When it comes to weddings, companies and blogs often focus solely on the bride and her bridal party. At Wedding Story Writer, we like to shift the focus onto the grooms out there as often as we can. If you’re struggling with an idea for your leading man, a nice pair of cufflinks is always a good bet, as is a beautiful Legacy Book. Cufflinks are also a good way for the groom to be able to express his personality beyond the constraints of a tux, so don’t be afraid to have some fun when selecting a pair. Personally, we think cufflinks tend to be a better gift idea than ties and handkerchiefs. More often than not, these two items end up having to match the color scheme of the wedding, so there’s less room for personalization.

A good example is a set of crown … [read more]

Woodhouse Chocolate Robin Eggs

Easter is right around the corner, and if you’re anything like me, you’re struggling with the fact that it’s simply April, never mind that Easter is right on our doorsteps. It’s time to start figuring out who you need to start prepping goody bags and baskets for. You can never go wrong with candy and chocolate, considering many gave it up for Lent and are, like me, sugar deprived. Those who need a chocolate fix will more than appreciate something decadent, and Woodhouse Chocolate robin eggs fit the bill. These beautiful bite-size treats are covered in a thin, dark chocolate outer shell that almost feels as fragile as the real thing, enhanced by artful marble decorations that make them almost too pretty to eat- almost.

Inside you’ll find a variety of fillings made from the freshest of ingredients. No chemical additives or preservatives here. Spices are included … [read more]

Blue Bean Cufflinks

There’s something about these cufflinks that are appealing to me. The lapis lazuli accompanied by gleaming sterling silver? Perhaps. The Original Bean® design (copyrighted) by Elsa Peretti? Maybe. Or perhaps it is the idea of a man going all the way on his special day, incorporating blue, ever-so-subtly, into his decorum.

A 19th Century Grooming Kit, Within a Book

Books have played an important role throughout time, as shown by this marvelous antique grooming kit. Circa 19th century and in sterling silver, this book form was found at The McNally Company Antiques in Rancho Santa Fe, CA. The set includes a pencil, scissors, spoon, pocket knife, picks, and bone writing surface. I imagine its owner was an educated man, perhaps a lawyer or physician, maybe a professor. It’s a rare historic piece, one that would look beautiful on your groom’s dresser.

These dashing Elsa Peretti original-designed cabochon cufflinks caught our eye today while browsing the Tiffany & Co. website. We love natural stones used in beautiful jewelry and think these two sets would be beautiful used in a wedding, and you may choose your shade of blue!  We can see the turquoise cufflinks being used for a beach wedding. What a great groom’s gift, and an heirloom to pass down to future sons, perhaps using them on their wedding day, too.

Every week we will dedicate our Monday to “Something Blue.” This week we have decided to dedicate our Blue Monday to the often overlooked important half of weddings–grooms! We’re all for including them in traditions usually reserved for brides, and cufflinks can be a smart, subtle way to add in that pop of color so the groom can participate in a time-honored tradition. We believe our leading men deserve to be featured more often, so keep a lookout for more posts specifically tailored to them.

A Gift for your Groom

kanners

These brown jasper with 22k gold realistic book cufflinks were created by no other than artist Michael Kanners, who considers them to be a perfect example of his work. Depicting an unbalanced set of scales, one could gift this set to a Libra or an attorney, or for a lover of books–like us! They have already become a collectible item for men who want classic cufflinks without whimsical trends.
